Jessie Weston, CRA

President

Jessie Weston has been a records analyst specializing in electronic document management and imaging for the State of Michigan Records Management Services since 2012. She earned her Certified Records Analyst credential from the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) in 2018. She has worked for the State of Michigan since 2003, both in the Michigan Senate and the Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs. A Michigan native, Jessie is a graduate of Western Michigan University. She has served on the Mid-Michigan ARMA Board since 2014, serving as both Vice President and Treasurer before being elected President in 2021.

Sam Beland

Past President

​​Sam Beland currently works for the State of Michigan as a Records Management/Information Governance and business analyst professional.  She is responsible for developing Retention and Disposal Schedules for public records, training government employees about best practices for records management, State of Michigan Records Center operations, providing recordkeeping system consulting, business process improvement, and developing policies and procedures regarding Records Management.  Ms. Beland received her bachelor's degree in Public History from Western Michigan University. In addition to her position as a Government Records Analyst for the State, she has served on the board of the Mid-Michigan ARMA chapter since 2016 and is currently serving as President, as well as serving on the Professional Development Committee for the National Association of Government Archivists and Records Administrators (NAGARA).

Andrew Young

Vice President

Andrew Young is a Records Management professional with over 12 years of experience as a private sector analyst, project manager, consultant, and state government analyst where he has focused on management of records in highly regulated industries. His interests and experience include electronic data management, record center operations, legal discovery, corporate litigation, and historical business archives. He is currently with the State of Michigan Records Management Services as a Records Management Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Public History from Western Michigan University and enjoys reading and spending time with his wife and daughter in his free time.

Jennifer Green

Treasurer

Jennifer Green was recently a departmental analyst at the State of Michigan Records Management Services where she specialized in professional consulting, designing organized filing systems, records reproduction, and business process analysis. She has been employed in the field of Records Management since 2017. During her time at Records Management Services, she led the security research for Records Management Services including federal and state security requirements for information systems and electronic signatures. Jennifer designed and implemented standard operating procedures for applying retention in the State of Michigan electronic document management system Content Manager. She is a member of ARMA Mid-Michigan chapter and has participated in workshops and educational training sessions for records management. Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a bachelors in pre-law from Michigan State University.

Emily Rowland

Secretary

Emily Rowland currently works as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst in Henry Ford Jackson Hospital’s Market Operations and Strategy department.  Emily has over a decade of experience working in records management, information governance, and information architecture for Pfizer, State Farm headquarters, and a Lansing area retirement system.  Emily is a member of ARMA International and serves locally on the Mid-Michigan ARMA chapter board of directors.  She earned a bachelor’s degree with a Sociology/English double major from McMurry University in 1997 and a master’s degree in Library and Information Science with a concentration in Public Libraries and Archival Administration from Wayne State University in 2006.

Jennie Rankin

Director of Membership

Jennie Rankin is the current Acting Records Manager at Michigan State University Archives and Historical Collections. Out of the past seven years at MSU, five of those years have been working with the Records Management Program. She has done everything from inventorying boxes, creating retention schedules, and helping offices develop file plans for their Shared Drives. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Minor in Museum Studies from Central Michigan University and a Master of Library Science degree from Wayne State University. She is a current candidate for the ICRM Certified Records Analyst (CRA) certification.

Jennifer Silveus

Director of Programs

Jennifer Silveus has more than a decade of experience in the records management profession. A graduate of Michigan State University, she began her career in the records management field while attending college as a student assistant in the records division of the Michigan Gaming Control Board. After graduation, she began working with the Records Management Services Division of the State of Michigan, first as a Departmental Technician, and then as an Analyst. In these roles, she worked with state and local government agencies to design and implement both electronic and physical recordkeeping systems. Jennifer is currently the Records Center Operations Manager within the same division, overseeing the daily activities of the State Records Center and developing new improvements and service offerings for State of Michigan customer agencies.

Laura Johnson

Director

Laura Johnson has served as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the President and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees at Bay de Noc Community College since 2007. She introduced and implemented records management practices at the College and continues to assume these responsibilities. Prior to that role, she worked in the Library from 2000-2007 where she re-organized the College Archives; and the Financial Aid Office from 1993-2000. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Bay de Noc Community College in 1989 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Lake Superior State University in 1991.

Kiersten McAvoy, CRM

Director

Kiersten McAvoy works within the Information Governance program as the Information and Records Manager at Medline Industries, LP. Services.  Kiersten has over 23 years of experience working in a variety of non-regulated and regulated industries to develop robust records management and information governance (IG) programs that identify, protect and leverage the information assets of organizations. Kiersten is a Certified Records Manager (CRM) from the Institute of Certified Records Managers and volunteers to promote the value of the certification on the exam development, marketing and professional development committees. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Forensics and Digital Investigations from Champlain College.

Jennifer Moore

Director

Jennifer Moore is currently an Information Specialist at the Dow Chemical Company, responsible for supporting global site records centers and the Dow Records Center Operations team.  Prior to her current role, Jennifer worked for Dow Corning Corp. for 18 years.  She served as assistant to the Records Manager for many years, responsible for employee training, retention schedule maintenance, and implementation of a global Records Inventory Management System for inactive records.  She then transitioned to a Records Center Coordinator role, managing storage and disposal of inactive records at the company’s Corporate Site.  While in that role, Jennifer established a global company network of site Records Center Coordinators, to whom she provided training and support to ensure consistent physical records management and compliance across the company. She graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Arts degree in Journalism from CMU, and has served on the Mid-Michigan ARMA Board for numerous years.
